What Causes Recurring Nasal Sores While On Oxygen Supply Through Nasal Cannula?

I am 65 years old and just recently started wearing oxygen. I have developed sores in my nose, both nostrils. In the past I've had sores in my nose occasionally but never have they lasted this long. Can you give me any help in avoiding getting them, or can you give me help getting them to clear-up.
Thank you

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain sores inside the nostrils while using oxygen can be due to uses like nasal infection caused due to viral infection known as Herpes while can be due to bacterial infection causing Impetigo..
It can also be due to allergic reaction..
I would suggest you to consult your treating physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like nasal swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
For bacterial infection antibiotics can be advised..
For viral infection antiviral medication like Acyclovir, Famicyclovir etc can be advised..
As of now you can do saline nasal irrigation and cool compresses over nostrils..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
