What Causes Recurring Pain And Numbness At The Crook Of The Elbow?

When I extend my right arm to where it is straight and not bent at the elbow, I have a severe burning pain in my forearm on the ventral side (side with the visible blood vessels). The area is also quite numb and I had this pain about one week ago, only for it to disappear and then return yesterday. Thank you!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the recurrent pain and numbness at the crook of the elbow indicate various possible issues as:
- Avulsion osteoarthritis of the elbow joint
- Chronic inflammation of joint capsule
- Tendinopathy
- Nerve compression as that of musculocutaneous, ulnar or others

In my clinic, I do recommend thorough clinical examination, MRI of the elbow for best results of evaluation and guide accordingly.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
