What Causes Recurring Pain In Abdomen Along With Mild Vertigo?
Hi Dr, My total bilirubin level has been increasing for the last 9 months or so. It is now at 2.2 compared to 1.9 in October, 2014. I due experience mild vertigo as well as recurring pain in right as well as left abdomen. Had endoscopy done twice once in last December and this February, both times it was identified as gastritis and no malignancy was found. My Vitamin B12 is 175 pg/ml and Vitamin D total is 12.5 NG/ML. Could you please advice about the probable causes and kind of tests that i should be taking to completely diagnise the cause.
These levels of bilirubinemia show that your liver is suffering. I should ask you if you are an alcoholic user as one of the reasons of liver damaging. If not I recommend you doing a CT of the abdomen for detecting if there are stones in the biliary tract causing this hyperbilirubinemia. It needs also to do blood tests related to viral hepatitis as another probable cause of this hyper-bilirubinemia. Hypovitaminosis D that is detected in your blood tests sometime is caused by liver diseases and this hypovitaminosis D probably in your case is the reason of this mild vertigo.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Julinda Maksuti, General Surgeon
