What Causes Recurring Pain In The Right Knee?

Hi, Its a month now since when i play football after just a couple of minutes i get a severe pain on the right side of my right knee in a way that i cannot even bend my knee for few hours but in the next 24-48 hours, the pain goes away and I can easily walk again. I can confirm that i have not had any issues with knee in the past and this has only started in the last month therefore what do you think the problem is and what should i do to completely get my knee to a 100% health again ? thanks

Hi,

I read your problem. Because you are a football player so may be due to hard kick or felling down, you might have caught injury and couldn't realise that. Actually there are many types of injury which causes pain in knee like arthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, ligament injury, meniscus injury, chondromalacia patella, and gout.

These all are due to severe strain over knee or any injury which is related to the knee joint. Firstly you have to get the x-ray done, and then MRI to rule out the cause. But you can do some isometric knee exercises. Take NSAIDS as (ibuprofen, paracetamol), hot fomentation, and try weight loss. The two things you must have to avoid in knee pain are running and doing full leg extensions with a resistance machine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ankur
