What Causes Recurring Pain Radiating From Back To Sides?
This evening I leaned over the arm rest in my van to lock the opposite door and imediately had pain mid back and side. I had to catch my breathe it was so painful. Two hours later there is a dull ache radiating from the middle of my back around to my side, and if I move certain ways or breathe in to deeply it is painful. Could I have dislocated or subluxed a rib(s)? If so should I go to the ER?
Since you are having recurring pain it could be due to muscle strain, tendon or ligament stress, pinched nerve, tissue injury or trauma. However it can be due to serious medical conditions like bone issues, kidney stone, pancreatitis etc.
You are suggested to go to ER, get clinically examined get Imaging tests done. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. In the meantime, you can take Naproxen or Ibuprofen to get rid of pain & discomfort. Avoid sedentary life, do exercises & walking. Physical therapy is helpful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
