Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurring Pain With History Of Having Broken Clavicle?
I broke my clavicle when I was in first grade so I was 6 at the time. I am now 22 and occasionally I still have this ache pain. Makes me feel like I have to stretch my arm/ shoulder but it doesn t usually relive the ache feeling. I broke it pretty good...when we looked at the x-ray my collarbone looked like an X. I was just curious if this was arthritis of some sort or if something else is bothering it?
Since the fracture of clavicle was a long ago, having pain in the present situation can be due to many reasons: Arthritis at the claviculo-scapular joint. Can be inflammation of the underlying tissues due to repetitive stress injury. Stretched nerve at the cervical spine. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get an opinion of an Orthopedic Surgeon so that clinical cause be found out and invested with MRI of the cervical spine and of the affected area. This will give you a definite management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
