Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recurring pimple? sore? on my scalp. It is extremely painfull . I have been using an antibiotic cream on it and taking Bactin and 500mg of Naproxin for 3 day and it is still so painfull I can t touch it. It has a scab on it and is very red around it. If it was a staff infection shouldn t the Bactin and Naproxin have lessened the pain by now?
I would suggest you to consult a trichologist or a dermatologist and get this evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like microscopic examination of the scrapings from the scalp. Blood tests can help in its diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.
You can be advised antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medicines, anti-allergic medicines and topical application of antibiotic and steroid ointment.
Avoid scratching the bumps to avoid infection. Wash the scalp every alternate day with a mild shampoo. Avoid moisture accumulation in the scalp.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora, Dentist
