What Causes Recurring Red Eyes And Blurry Vision In A Child?

Hi, my 9 year old son s eye continuously goes red & blood shot, we took him to see an eye doctor and were told this could be from allergies and dry eye but his eyes were perfect besides the fact. Now with the blood shot eye he also has blurred vision. Wondering if I should be concerned Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Recurring red eyes commonly occur due to children touching their eyes with dirty fingers that may lead to eye infections. Avoid touching the eyes. Eye sensitiveness to pollution, pollen, allergens, dry air or chemical exposure may also cause redness. Blurry vision usually occurs due to dryness of the eyes, sensitiveness to light & vision problems, commonly nearsightedness (Myopia). No worries, he may need an eye drop & lens (glasses). You are suggested to get him clinically examined by an ophthalmologist, get his eye sight checked.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
