What Causes Recurring Sharp Abdominal Pain In A Teenager?
My 13 year old daughter has been experiencing sever abdomenal pain off & on for the past week, with the worse being today. She says that it feels like someone is stabbing inside her stomach with needles. She flinches everytime I go to touch her or press on her stomach. Took her temperature & it s 99.7. Not sure how to handle this, should I call the advice nurse or take her to the ER?
As per your query about abdominal pain in a 13 year old girl with pain which is sharp and needles like piercing seems to be of acute gastritis. Tablet Ranitidine and Digene syrup will be helpful. But still if pain persist ultrasonography of abdomen with consulting a physician will be helpful in ruling out other causes like pancreatitis or liver related disorder. Avoid spicy and oily foods which promotes gastritis.
I hope this information helps you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Jyoti Pandey
