What Causes Recurring Sharp Pain In The Ear?

Hi there - over the last two days I ve developed some sort of inner ear pain. It happens when I drink cold liquid, or sometimes just when I swallow, or sometimes just randomly and it feels like a burning shooting pain in my inner ear - like someone is trickling burning liquid in it. The pain lasts for a few seconds then goes. It s not a constant pain although it does feel sensitive. I ve had ear aches when I was a child but that was a constant ache and a blocked feeling, and this doesn t feel like that. I feel fine otherwise - no cold symptoms or fever. Do I need to go to the doctor for antibiotics, or is it likely to clear up of its own accord?
