What Causes Recurring Sharp, Snapping Pain In The Back?

About 4 to 8 times a day I get a sharp what it feels like rubber band snap inside my back. I have had back issues for about 15 years but this has just been happening for about 3 maybe 4 months. The first time it happened I turned around to see who had snapped me and no one was around. Thanks, Annah

Hello,
it is possible that your back problems have extended to your neck and your have a pinched nerve. An x-ray to start would be useful to see if there is arthritis or bone spurs and then perhaps an MRI to look for disk bulges. A more conservative approach would be massage, physiotherapy and possible acupuncture to see if it is just muscle spasms/soft tissue problems. I hope this helps!
