What Causes Recurring Skin Peeling On Elbows, Knees, Ankles And Feet?

My 8yr old son has has extreme peeling of elbows, knees, ankles and feet for over a week now. This is the second time something like this is happening. About 5 mths ago he had extreme peeling if hands and feet for about 2 weeks. Please provide guidance.
