What Causes Recurring Sore Throat, Nasal Drip, Tightness In Chest And Fever?

I m a 34 yr old woman. Symptoms: almost 2 weeks of severe sore throat, post nasal drip, swollen tender glands, tightness in chest with hacking (sometimes productive) cough, difficulty breathing, fever that comes and goes, chills/aches. All symptoms are severe at night and first thing in the morning, symptoms still present during the day but not as severe. I had an extremely bad case of Mono at 19 yrs old and have had my tonsils out. These symptoms feel very similar to the onset of my Mono. Could it be recurring mono? and should I go see my doctor or wait it out? I have a toddler who is exhibiting some of these symptoms and I don t want her to get very ill.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to Lower respiratory tract infection.

For further assessment you may require complete hemogram, chest X Ray, throat swab after physician consultation.

You may require antibiotics after consultation.

Continue steam inhalation and Betadine gargle twice a day.

Keep your self hydrated.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further...
