What Causes Recurring Sore Throat With Yellow Line On Back Of Throat?

I am a 22 year old female. I have a recurring sore throat with yellow strips on back of throat along with swollen glands. It feels closed up and is hard to swallow. After a couple of days the pain subsides but the yellow strips remain and i struggle to swallow. It eventually subsides only to come back around two to three months later. I also get these deep pockets on each side of my throat that pieces of food gets caught in when my throat is swollen. Thank you for your time.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having recurring sore throat with yellow line on back of throat which could be due to viral pharyngitis or upper respiratory tract infection. Need not to worry. It could be mainly due to increased susceptibility of your body to get infected due to poor immunity. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles or betadine gargles 2-3 times a day and start vitamin C tablet for 10 days. You should take combination of Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen. You should take steam inhalation along with vaporizer. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined if symptoms keeps on persisting. Start treatment once proper diagnosis is ruled out. Keep sipping warm water. Drink hot milk along with pinch of turmeric.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
