What Causes Recurring Spasms On The Lower Body Post An Injury?

My husband is a 67 year old man that reached into a large outside trash can 3 months ago and hurt his lower right side on the side of the can. He keeps having spasms in that same area and is getting worse. He is taking muscle relaxers but don t seem to help. Went to urgent care because of this issue a few days ago. They did urinalysis, ct scan and blood work. Said everything appeared normal that it s probably muscle spasms. My husband seems to think it s getting worse (several a day) and it feels like it s on the other side of his ribs internally. ????

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for your question. I do understand your pain and discomfort. As per your history stop muscle relaxant and tell your local doctor to add calcium and potassium as medications. I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
