What Causes Recurring Styes, Furuncles And Lump On Eyes, Nostril And Jaw Bone?

I ve had two stys on my right eye within the past month, now I have a furuncle in my right nostril, which I was given bacitracin cream for by a pharmacist. Today there s also a marble sized lump on my right side, underneath my jaw bone, about halfway between my chin and neck. Is this something to be worried about or just continue the cream?

Hello,

You should continue to apply the cream. Since you are getting recurrent styes, furuncles, boils, etc on eyes, nostrils or jaw; it seems that you keep touching your face and thus the infection spreads all over. You are suggested to keep your hands away from your face. Do not scratch, touch or pop.

Get clinically examined by a dermatologist. You may need a course of antibiotics like Clindamycin, Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole or Doxycycline; anyone that suits you best. You can apply ointments containing Mupirocin and Chlorhexidine on the area affected. Styes go away by themselves, don't touch and take care of your hygiene. However, you can apply eye drops 2-3 drops (similasan stye eye drop) twice daily. warm compress is helpful.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
