What Causes Recurring Swollen, Painful, Blood Oozing Ring Around Belly Button?
Sometimes my partner gets a ring around his belly button, it s solid and very swollen. It only lasts a few days and then goes for what could be a few months. However, in this time, it is very painful and blood and a liquid substance seep out from his belly button. Any idea what the symptoms could mean?
hi thank you for asking your concern and welcome to HCM. this is umbilical infection like any other skin infection. due to sebum and sweating it is more prone to infection. there are few things i would suggest first is cleanliness or hygiene of the affected part. clean with warm water and dry it thoroughly then apply some local antiseptic cream or gention violet. in case of women it will be good to wear saari or pant slightly below it try to keep it open atleast in home. as you are telling it as recurrent i would suggest you to please visit your doctor to check for diabetes. it may be a fungal infection with superadded bacterial then antifungal tablet or crean and antibiotic need to be taken. you can take capule cloxacillin, cephalexin but it will be wiser to take after consultation. feel free to ask any doubt regards dr. abhijit
