What Causes Recurring Throat Irritations And Enlarged Tonsils?

hi, My age - 26 years..i have been getting frequent throat iritations/pains since last 5 months (twice a month). it always goes away after gargling with salt water for 3 - 4 days. Only once in the last 5 months, i had severe throat pain which dint go away with salt water gargling for which i saw a general physician & he prescribed Truclav 625 mg & sedcef 200mg for 7 days. Pain went away with that. After a month, i got the throat pain/iritation once again which went away with salt water gargling anyway. My tonsils are enlarged. Would like to know if there is a problem as I m getting this sore throat frequently & what do i need to do?

Hello,

The symptoms are typical of recurrent tonsillitis. Consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated. If there is recurrent infection, tonsillectomy may be required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
