Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurring Tightness And Burning Sensation In Triceps And Chest?
Every now and then, I feel severe tightness and burning in my triceps, cross my upper back, and in my upper chest. This pain and tightness only lasts for about 45 seconds. Then it relieves itself. Only happens about once a week, normaly, when I m standing still. I m in great health, male, 57 years old, weigh 160, excercise daily, take Lipitor, cholesterol is 163.
The symptoms seem to be related to acid reflux from the stomach. I suggest to do an electrocardiogram to exclude a cardiac issue. Meanwhile I suggest to use a gastro protector such as Omeprazole 20 mg in the morning before breakfast. I also suggest to use antacids such as Maalox three times per day. If the symptoms continue you should consult your doctor for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
