Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have suffered with chronic uti s for a few years now. The doctor would prescribe bactram and when that did not work, they prescribed macrobid. I took AZO for the pain. The uti s are becoming more frequent and the pelvic pain does not go away. The doctor prescribed Vesicare and when that did not work, Oxybutynin which does not help either. Are there any tests that can be done to get to the bottom of this problem?
I recommend to do a urinalysis to check the level of infection. I also suggest to do a urine culture to check the bacteria that is causing the infection and the proper antibiotic to treat it. Meanwhile, I suggest to drink liquids and especially cranberry juice.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
