What Causes Red And Painful Fordyce Spots On The Penis?

Quite a number of the fordyce spots on my penis have turned very red and painful. Some seemed to have split, it seems to be a very very fast spread but escalated in the shower. Could it be a reaction to a certain type of soap? I m 18 years old and generally very healthy.

Hello dear,
Understand your concern.

If it is not change in color, pain sensitivity,no blood: it is harm less.
But you have to examine it repeatedly.
It may be associated with poor hygiene, infection mostly fungus & bacterial and dermatitis

Following are the cause of your problem:

1. Fordyce spots
These are tiny brown/red spots, found on the head of the penis or the shaft.
They are normal minute sebaceous glands and are just part of the natural structure of many penises.
There's absolutely no need for any treatment.

2. Pearly papules
Pearly penile papules are also normal. They are very small bumps, the same colour as your skin, but with a pearly appearance. They usually appear around the glans (head) of the penis in a row.
they don't need any treatment.
But if you really want them removed for cosmetic reasons, this is sometimes possible.
3.Hair follicles
4. Hygiene problem: If you not wash penis area, segma that is deposited under fore skin irritate penile area and produce reaction
5. Balanitis: inflammation of the penis,
caused by poor hygiene, especially insufficient washing under the foreskin area.
Thrush, psoriasis, skin sensitivity or allergy to a product used on the penis (such as soap or lubrication)
6. overuse - as in too frequent, too long or too rough sexual activity
7. Fungal infection: in warm environment.

Take following advice:
1.Change to a simple, unperfumed soap.
2.Alternatively, buy ‘aqueous cream’ from a pharmacy and use it as body-wash cream (i.e. apply a small amount and rinse off).
3. Put two handfuls of salt in the bath, but no other additives
4. Do not use ‘biological’ or ‘enzyme’ powders when washing your underpants
5. Showering after a workout, changing underwear, using a clean towel to dry off with and not redressing until the area is completely dry
6. Use ormulated penis vitamin formula- Man 1 Man Oil-contain:
with vitamins, minerals and shea butter- it moisturizes the skin and prevents flaking or cracked skin while revitalizing and enhancing the sensitivity of the penis
7. Apply anti fungal clotrimazole cream if severe or not resolved.

You can take tablet zacon 150 mg once a day for 5 days
If not resolved
Consult the deramatologist.
Take the scabs from discharge and urethra
Do the test for other infection like, chlymadia/gonorrhea

Hope this may help you.
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
