What Causes Red And Painful Blotch On The Back Of Ankle?
Hello, I developed a red, painful blotch on the back of my ankle, on the upper part of the achilles tendon. It is an irregular blotch and had what looked like a very small blood blister in the middle. The area around it is now tight and somewhat swollen. I marked around the blotch earlier to see if it might increase during the day, but it is the same.
Hi, The symptoms described by you suggest that you have Sprained ankle. I suggest non steroidal anti inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen 400mg for 5 days. I also suggest Compression that to assist give up swelling, compress the ankle with an elastic bandage till the swelling stops. I recommend you taking minimum 6 hours of sleep needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Arup Majumdar, General & Family Physician
