Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a rash of 6 red spots different sizes. Biggest one is smaller than a pencil eraser. I noticed them all at the same time 10 days ago. I thought it was the tag in my jeans that caused it. It did not itch. Now some have a bit of scab, and where scab has fallen off there is a hole or divot in skin. Sore but no itching. I have seen shingles and this doesn t look like shingles to me....but I do not know. It is on my lower back.
This can be due to a skin condition involving an infection. Shingles scabs are very small, at the most half a cm, hence this is not Shingles and it causes lots of burning or pain. This looks to be due to some insect bite some of which do not cause any pain, on the contrary can numb the area and these being on back are noticed late unless seen by your family members or if they ooze. Well, the treatment will be after consulting your Doctor as such rare things need a look at. You may apply Liquid Povidone Iodine to the local area, cover with sterile gauze. Further management as suggested by your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
