What Causes Red And Spreading Circle Around Ankle?
My wife initially (approx 2-3 weeks ago) developed a very small reddened circle (appeared like red pin pricks initially...equally spaced) on her right ankle. She consulted her family physician and was told it was ring worm or somesuch. But it has since enlarged to a reddened band approx 4cm in width...encircling her entire ankle...and also seems to be spreading to her left ankle area? She tried to see her physician today..as the condition has worsened but her doctor could not see her.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red and spreading circle around ankle which is very common due to fungal infection and could be due to allergic reaction.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to keep this area clean and dry. You should apply warm compresses with soaked towel and apply aloe vera gel. Apply mild corticosteroid ointment over it. If condition doesn't get better then consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor will examine physically along with blood test and may prescribed prescribe immunosuppressants.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
