Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
All the symptoms you have mentioned suggestive of acute
conjunctivitis, commonly called as red eye. It could be bacterial or viral in origin and most cases resolve with conservative treatment, chances for complications are very less.
You can try the following as a first line management:-
(1)-You can use simple analgesics like
acetaminophen or
ibuprofen for pain.
(2)- Do not rub the eyes, keep good personal hygiene. Wash your hands frequently.
(3)- Apply warm compresses over the affected eye,it will give some symptomatic relief.
(4)- You can also instill antibiotic ehe drops like
ciprofloxacin or
tobramycin to prevent secondary infection.
If symptoms persist despite all these kindly consult an opthalmologist for detailed evaluation. A slit lamp examination may be needed in that case.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
