Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a place on my ankle that comes and goes but it is a bright red blotch on my ankle bone that darkens and then goes to a dark angry looking purple over the following day or so. My age is 55 and I am not sure if it is just some thing indicating a more serious problem or not. It does not itch or burn.
Hello Since , you are 55 years old and such type of purple color blotch may be due to these possibilities , these include: 1 Atherosclerois , hampered blood supply . Diagnosis can be confirmed by lipid profile and arteriography of the effects parts. 2 Diabetes , diagnosis can be confirmed by Hba1 C and blood sugar level examination . 3 Bleeding disorder , as this is also a common cause of such blotch in this age group . Diagnosis can be confirmed by measuring of bleeding and clotting time. However, there are so many possibilities of such symptoms like hypertension etc but in my opinion you must consult a CARDIOLOGIST and get his opinion because physical examination at the age of 55 year is important when such blotch forms.
