Hi, for the past week ive had this red shiny blotch on the shaft of my penis. I think I got it from masterbuation, but I m not exactly too sure, this may sound stupid but could it be a burn? I haven t gotten it checked out as I m too embarrassed. What should I do? :(

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. If you send a picture of it then it will be more helpful in identifying. It can be due to fungal infection like tinea corporis. For fungal infection if you were my patient I would recommend using ointments containing anti fungal agents like miconazole and corticosteroid like hydrocortisone for local application. Avoid soaps and irritants to wash the genital area and instead you can use saline or warm water. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
