What Causes Red Bumps And Rashes Around Eyes?

My boyfriend has had a kind of rash consisting of red bumps on and around his eyes for the past few weeks. Because they are never itchy or painful we have thought nothing of it until we woke this morning with one swollen eye and the rash being much more visible and having had moved all the way to his hairline in places. It has a slight resemblance to eczema but we aren t sure that s it as he s never had anything like that before. He has tried moisturising and cleansing his face with antibacterial cleaner and nothing has helped. We are becoming concerned now, please help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It sounds as though it is an allergic reaction though infection may need to be ruled out.
Infection would be associated with the presence of a discharge in most cases.

Using oral antihistamines such as benadryl, claritine, allegra or zyrtec would help if it is an allergic response.

I hope this helps
