Hello,

Hand foot and mouth disease (HFMD) is caused by a virus known as coxsackie virus. It spreads rapidly by contact with saliva or secretions from lesions. So most probably you are suffering from HFMD. You don't need to worry as it is fully treatable and is not dangerous.

The treatment options include treatment is mostly supportive. Antipyretics are given for fever like Acetaminophen. Ensure adequate fluid intake. Cold fluids are preferable to hot and spicy ones. Body pains are treated with analgesics like ibuprofen.

Topical anesthetic sprays lidocaine sprays are used in case of intractable mouth ulcerations. It is a self limiting disease with mild course. If the lesions and fever persist even after 1 week of following the above instructions, please do consult a physician.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
