What Causes Red Bumps On The Knee Cap?

Hello, For the last week or two my right knee cap has developed a sizable amount of red bumps. It s getting pretty itchy. I ve been applying moisturizing cream twice a day. It doesn t seem to be helping. What can this be? How do I treat it? Would rather not have to take time off of work to go to a dermatologist. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

As per your query, you have symptoms of red bumps on the knee cap which seems to be due to folliculitis infection and it could be due to an allergic reaction.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you apply warm compresses several times a day. You should apply over the counter antibiotics and anti-inflammatory cream, take Benadryl or ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain. You should consult a general practitioner for proper examination. The doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory. Maintain complete hygiene.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
