What Causes Red Burning Rashes On The Body Along With Tender Feet?

It was said that I had rheumatic fever as a child of 7 years old, not sure.I now am 58.I do remember a red burning rash over my body and that the soles of my feet were tender and the skin had peeled over . A friend had the same thing with the condition in their childhood. Is this a result that may accompany rheumatic fever?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

A rash may be a part of rheumatic fever. However it's not only the rash, there needed to by another thing in rheumatic fever. These include joint pain, or tremors, or ECG changes and evidence of infection by streptococcus.

Only a rash is rarely caused by rheumatic fever, rather it may be a skin infection or allergies.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
