Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I think I got bitten by a spider in my sleep 6 nights ago, on my belly. There is a red circle with a red line about an inch and a half long emanating from the circle. i have no pain or itching--the only itching I had was the first morning I noticed it. Do I need to see my doctor? Why isn t the redness going away?
Since you are suspecting to have bitten by a spider you are suggested to get clinically examined in the ER or a GP. This s to stay on the safer side. Sometimes the infection spreads & affects the lymph nodes to cause various symptoms.
At present you can take antihistamine, once daily for 3-5 days to stop any developing skin sensitivity or allergy / inflammation. To reduce the redness, you can apply hydrocortisone cream in the area affected. Neosporin ointment or calamine lotion is equally effective. If the redness is not going you may need antibiotics to prevent secondary infections.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
