What Causes Red Circles Around Eyes In An Elderly Person?
my mother is 95 years old and she has recently developed red circles around both eyes. upper and lower eyelids and lower. She almost looks as if she was pucnhed in the eye. I have been giving her clariton and also eye drops in case it is allergies. St this time nothing has helped.
Hi and welcome to HCM, You have not mentioned, whether your mother is diabetic or hypertensive. In any case this could be due to ecchymosis, which is microscopic bleeds in the outer layer of the eyes, caused due to inadvertent rubbing or other minor trauma, or if the patient is on anticoagulants. I should resolve spontaneously in a weeks time, other wise have her investigated and examined by an ophthalmologist. All the best !!!
