What Causes Red Dots In The Middle Of Tongue?

red dots in middle of tongue. not painful. I have eosinophillic esophagitis and have been taking two medications that I chew instead of simply swallowing a pill. One is budensonide, and I am wondering if I have gotten some sort of infection from taking this orally

Hi dear ,

As per your query there is red spot on your tongue . The probable reason for the red spot on tongue is Inflammation of taste bud . This usually occur due to hot and acidic food .

Sometimes irritation to the surface of tongue results in inflammation of taste bud .

It usually go away in 4-5 days without any treatment . Do warm saline rinses and also do betadine rinses twice a days . Apply orabase gel if irritation is there .

If it doesn't get better in a week then consult oral pathologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically to rule out causes like canker sore and oral thrush .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
