I have a red rash just on the front part of my leg, just above the ankle. I did not have it when I was at my orthopedic dr. 8 days ago when my broken ankle was re-exrayed. today, when my sister helped me remove the boot so that I could wash my leg and foot, and we exposed the skin, it was there and very itchy. what could have caused it? Thanks. Mildred Harrison

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Constant wearing of shoes / bandage can cause this. Constant irritation and sweating followed by fungal infection seems to be the cause. Try sprinkling Candid dusting powder (anti-fungal) after cleaning and drying feet. This should relieve the symptom and the cause. If no relief or exaggeration of the problem. Consult your doctor for oral medication.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
