Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My child has for the past week had red, itchy welt looking rashes spotted all over his legs and spreading partially to his behind. The rashes (welts) turn into bruises after a few days, and his legs are covered in them. Two days ago he started complaining of pain in one leg, and walks with a small limp. He is acting completely fine otherwise though...no fever, headaches, etc...just a normal 4 year old. What is this?? The doctor thinks it may be Allergic Purpura..but I m not convinced.
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
I agree with your doctor that the symptoms seem to be related to an allergic purpura. Treatment includes medicines and avoiding known triggers. So, I suggest to start an antihistamine such as Cetirizine 10 mg. I also suggest using Calamine lotion for local application.
Hope my answer was helpful.
If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.
Kind regards!
