What Causes Red Itchy Spots All Over The Buttocks And Thighs?
My 4 year old daughter has had spots on her bum for weeks, and gets soreness around her front bum. I assumed it was from not wiping properly so been cleaning and applying nappy cream. But yesterday her dad rang to say she had red, non itchy spots all over her bum and around her thighs. What could it be? She s got sensitive skin but otherwise very healthy.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your daughters problem can be due to fungal infectionTinea corporis. Anti fungal preparations locally will be helpful for this. Miconazole or terbinafine ointment or ketoconazole lotions locally will be helpful. Oral antifungals like fluconazole will be needed for resistant cases. Your doctor will give you the proper dosage according to weight. A consultation with a dermatologist or your pediatrician is well appreciated. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
