What Causes Red Itchy Spots On Arms And Legs?

My husband, age 73, has had red itchy spots on his legs (mostly) and arms and torso for weeks. He thought they were insect bites but they don t go away. They start out small, then get bigger and itch more. Dermatologist just glanced at them & said they were bites, but that was 10 days ago. Itch is sometimes severe.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red itchy spots on arms and legs which seems to be due to insect bite.

I would suggest you to

- Start with application of aloe vera gel to keep skin moist.

- Avoid exposure to sunlight and keep areas clean and dry.

- Do not scratch itchy spots as they will get infected.

I would suggest you to consult dermatologist once and get it examined. You should go for antibiotics(Clindamycin), corticosteroid ointment, and keep it under observation.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
