What Causes Red Painful Blisters On The Hands?

Hello, my name is Michelle and I am 45. I thought I had a bug bite. But 3 days later they have turned into blisters with bluish grey tops and there is a redness around them. They are painful and burn. They are only on the tops of both hands and no higher than my wrists (nowhere else on my body). My left hand has swollen. Now it looks like they are spreading down each finger. Any idea? I haven t used any new soap etc.., but I have tried Cortisone Creme and Neosporin when I first thought they were bug bites. Thank you for your time and any help will be greatly appreciated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to dyshidrotic eczema.

Dyshidrotic eczema, or dyshidrosis, is a skin condition in which blisters develop on the palms of your hands.

The blisters are usually itchy and may be filled with fluid.

I suggest taking antihistamines such as Levocetirizine.

I also recommend using steroid cream for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
