What Causes Red Patch Under Eye After Using Acne Medication?
hi, I used an acne medication containing of 15% glycolic in it and I think it might have burned my face but under my right eye there is a big red patch and everytime I put something on it like Neosporin, moisturizer, or aloe vera it burns. do you know what this could be?
Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid or AHA that is used in the treatment of acne, hyperpigmentation, dryness etc. It is also used for anti-aging, brightening of skin, wrinkles etc. But like other medications this medication has some side effects of its own. Glycolic acid is an acid which can burn or scar skin and cause red patch on the skin. Such type of Glycolic acid induced red patch will go away within few weeks to few months after stop using this medication. But if it persists for long then you should consult your dermatologist first for medical help.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
