Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i've literally had like a red ring around my mouth, espcially in the corners for like 2 months now.. everything i try doesnt work. its reoccuring but usually it'd go away by now..what could be wrong any how do i fix it. ive tried carmex, vasoline, cortizone 10 1%, and nystatin ointment.
As per your query you have symptoms of red prominent line around the mouth which is due to two reasons mainly. Firstly it could be due to atopic dermatitis or eczema and secondly it could be due to vitamin B deficiency. Inflammation around lips as per your query is chelitis which is most common occurrence along with atopic dermatitis. I would suggest you to visit general physician or dentist once and get blood tests done such as RAST. Apply topical steroids. Oral therapy of corticosteroids recommended in severe cases. Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment and Elidelare also useful. If the symptoms keeps on persisting then please consult a dermatologist. Drink plenty of water and take diet rich in Vitamin B12.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
