What Causes Red Rash On Stomach And Hip Area?

Have red rashie area on left stomach/hip area for several days. Not any place else right now. Wondering if this might be the starting of shingles. I am 79 years old and have had rashes in hairline with dermo treatment to help control. Also wondering if this might be caused from meds or dye in colored pills???

Hi,

It's difficult to say what is causing your rash without examining it. However, there are several possibilities. Shingles is a viral infections that can cause a painful rash. It generally appears as blisters that appear on one side of the body; it is most often the torso. If you have had chickenpox before, the virus can lie dormant in your body and reactivate later in life as shingles.

Other symptoms of shingles can include burning, tingling, or numbness in the affected area. If you suspect that you may have shingles, it's important to see a doctor as soon as possible, as early treatment can help reduce the severity and duration of the symptoms. Another possibility is contact dermatitis, which is an allergic reaction to something that has come into contact with your skin, such as soap, perfume, or clothing. This can cause redness, itching, and a rash. If you have started using a new product recently, you may have developed an allergic reaction to it.

Certain medications can also cause skin rashes as a side effect. If you have recently started taking a new medication, this may be causing your rash. In any case, it's important to see a doctor or dermatologist to have your rash examined and determine the underlying cause. They may recommend treatment such as topical or oral medications, or recommend avoiding certain products or medications.
