What Causes Red Rashes And Swelling In Face Of A Teenager With Low Fever?
My 13 year old son has a red rash on his face that is slightly swolen and has started to run a low fever. He recently was in the woods at a campground and swam at the lake.. We think it may just be alergy induced, and it does not look like poisy ivy. Any ideas? No tick bites, but bug bites
The symptoms you mention in query are probably due to allergy as you also mention in query due to some kind of food or plant . It is basically eczema ( Atopic eczema ) like condition. Atopic eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is the most common form of eczema. I would suggest you to give cold compresses to affected area , as him to take proper rest , dring plenty of water to keep himself hydrate and take benadryl twice a day . Do not touch or scratch affected area . Take paracetamol for fever . If condition doesn't get better in 24 hours the consult dermatologist for proper examination and rule out scarlet fever type of condition . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics and topical corticosteroids .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
