What Causes Red Rashes On Legs After Wearing Steel Toe Rubber Boots?
I work in sanitation for Frito lay I wearing steel toe rubber boots . I get red rashes on my legs it does not happen all the time put when it happens its real bad. Can you please tell me what causes this. ( it stay on my legs some times A couple of days - other times weeks
The rash on the legs can be either attributed to contact dermatitis (due to wearing steel toe rubber boots) or fungal infection (Tinea) in that region.
Management includes: 1. Keeping the area dry & avoid too much exposure to water or sweat formation. 2. Antihistamine preparations like cetirizine to reduce the itching sensation & provide symptomatic relief. 3. Application of topical antifungal cream like Clotrimazole or Miconazole to tackle the causative organism. 4. Topical antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infections.
If symptoms still persist or aggravate further, then it will be better to consult a Dermatologist & get a proper examination done to find out the actual cause. So that appropriate management steps could be taken.
Also avoid wearing tight shoes, as it will cause sweating & predispose to fungal infections. Wishing you a Good Health. Take care.
