What Causes Red Rashes On The Lips?

I have either an upper respiratory infection or pneumonia. I was exposed by two people that had xrays - with pneumonia (sat with a dying grandma). I went to the Dr. today and they put me on antibiotics. Prior to taking them I had a bright red rash on the inside of my lips. They feel a little numb and sore. Any idea what it might be? Also, how long am I contagious? Thanks

As per your query redness or rashes on inside of the lips along with soreness and numbness seems to be due to inflammation inside mouth secondary to infection known as Stomatitis..
Firstly the cause for the infection has to be ruled out as Pneumonia can also be due to bacterial or viral infection and can be a progressiveinfection beginning with severe cold or upper respiratory tract infection..
Duration for which you will be contagious will depend upon the type of infection that you are suffering from..
I would suggest you to consult an Infectious Medicine Specialist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests and chest x-ray will help in diagnosis and treatment will be done accordingly..
For soreness of lips you can apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine, do cool compresses and avoid spicy and hard foods,,
