Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am diabetic ( well controlled ) and two days ago I noticed a red ring around my third toe-- as if strangulated by a rubber band. That area is recessed, and the tip of the toe is the normal color. It is not painful and I have decent feeling ( for a diabetic ). I have an appointment with a podiatrist in three days. Any idea what this is ? --- Can it wait three days ? Thank you.
The symptoms seem to be related to a fungal infection. I suggest using an anti-fungal cream for local application such as Clotrimazole cream. I also suggest to use cotton socks. I think it can wait a few days.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
