Hi,

I have gone through your query. It can be most likely due to hair follicle infection as it is near hairline. Hot fomentation and Povidone iodine ointment for local application will be helpful. Herpes usually have burning sensation or itching.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nishad BN,
