Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had bright red spots in the back of the roof of my mouth for about 6 weeks . The spots get real dark then they lighten up for a few days then get dark again . When the red gets dark I feel very lethargic and overall not well and my throat hurts . When they lighten up I feel better for a couple days . I went to the doctor she said it was strep and did a throat culture . She put me on 825 mg of amoxicillin . I took it for 4 days until she called and said the strep test was negative . Now the spots are dark red again and I m feeling bad again. They are 2 spots alittle smaller than a dime . Can you give me some answers to what it might be ?
Well, red spots on roof of mouth or palate along with soreness in throat can be due to common causes like allergic reaction to any food or medication, acid reflux, chronic throat infection etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and investigations like oral and throat swab culture and a blood test to rule out allergies will be done..
1.As of now you should do warm saline gargles and take a soft bland diet.. 2.You should also gargle with 1:1 solution of benadryl and milk of magnesia. 3.You should avoid spicy and very hot foods as they can irritate the throat and aggravate the inflammation. 4.Drink plenty of water and other bland fluids.
Hope this information helps..
Regards.
