What Causes Red Spots On Cheek Of An Infant Post Amoxicillin Intake?
Today I went to the doctor . My baby was with a fever and I though it was because he was teething but he had also lost his apatite . So he told me that my 9 month old had an ear infection. He have me amoxicillin . He told me to give him 1/2 teaspoon twice a day for 10 days . I gave it to my baby at 3 then at 8 or almost 9 and I realized that he had red spots on his cheek and then I saw it getting worst . So I called the doctor and he just told me give him Benadryl 3/4 2.5 milligrams. It s that correct? So does that mean that my baby is allergic to it ? I am terrified!!!
As per your complain the red spots on the cheeks of your infant is due to allergic reaction or side effect of the drug amoxicillin and it should not be continued further to avoid other side effects or exaggeration of the prevailing symptoms..
Benadryl is an anti-histamine and is given in case of an allergic reaction to control the symptoms hence it is a correct line of treatment to give benadryl.
But along with it you have to stop giving amoxicillin to your child and consult the Paediatrician for the change of medicine as Cephalosporins or azithromycin can also be give to treat infection in infants....
Hope your query is solved..
Thanks and regards..
