What Causes Red Spots Over The Stomach And Chest While On Meftal?

Hi Doc, My doctor prescribed me Meftal Syrup for my 7 months old baby due to high fever (102-103 Deg. F) but due to consuming it, it seems that he is now having some red spots all over his stomach, chest, back and few part of face as well. At the same time his lips are also getting sore, also to tell you that he is getting nose bleeding a little bit. Can you please tell what to do for this and if there is any home remedy to eradicate this problem? Thanks and Regards, Saurabh Mehta

Hello, Thanks for the query.
It is important to stop Mefenamic acid syrup first. If still fever is continuing then give plain paracetamol liquid. It looks like the infant is allergic to mefenamic acid. Henceforth, please see that that particular drug is not given again to the child anytime in future. Plus give cetirizine syrup 1/4 th to 1/2 tsf once a day. That will be able to take care of the reaction. Thanks.
